Reporting directly to the Dean of Science, the selected individual will work under the guidance of the Registered Veterinary Technician in the School of Veterinary Sciences. This role will primarily involve alternating weekend shifts and occasional weekday afternoons, overseeing the care of animals in our veterinary programs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide coverage for morning and evening kennel shifts in the Veterinary Sciences Centre during weekends and weekday afternoons when regular staff are unavailable;
• Ensure adherence to established protocols and safety measures for medication administration, feeding, and animal care during kennel duty;
• Assist the veterinarian with vaccinations and medical care, maintaining accurate animal care records;
• Perform light cleaning tasks as required.
Qualifications:
• A 2-year diploma from a Veterinary Technician program, with preference given to those in good standing with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (RVT);
• A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in a veterinary hospital setting, demonstrating professional communication and animal care skills.
