Job Overview:

Under the guidance of the Chair, Information and Communications Technology – Security, Systems & Networking, the Professor will be tasked with delivering educational courses in the Computer Systems Technician - Networking Diploma program, within the School of Advanced Technology. The role involves creating a supportive and effective learning atmosphere for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Course Development and Enhancement:
    • Engaging with program administrators, faculty, advisory committees, and industry stakeholders.
    • Establishing learning objectives and assessing their effectiveness.
    • Determining and approving educational methodologies and necessary resources.
    • Integrating modern educational technologies to cater to the needs of contemporary learners.
    • Participating in curriculum reviews and professional development during non-teaching periods.
  2. Instruction of Designated Courses:
    • Delivering scheduled classes across various terms in the home department or other departments.
    • Ensuring students are informed about course objectives and assessment methods.
    • Providing academic support and guidance to students both in and outside the classroom.
    • Creating a learning environment that effectively utilizes available resources, including educational technologies.
    • Assessing student performance and taking responsibility for evaluating their work in assigned courses.
    • Fostering a conducive learning environment that promotes success for all students.
  3. Academic Leadership:
    • Offering guidance to students, instructors, and part-time faculty regarding teaching assignments.
    • Contributing to curriculum development and participating in departmental meetings.
    • Engaging with community members and promoting the program and department.
    • Staying updated in the field and being aware of emerging trends in higher education.
    • Exemplifying the values of the institution – Caring, Learning, Integrity, Respect.

Qualifications Required:

  • Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems/IT, or a related field, or a Graduate degree in similar disciplines.
  • A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in a postsecondary environment.
  • At least 5 years of practical experience in the relevant field.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Desktop support, including account management and automation.
  • Practical knowledge of VSphere or equivalent is an asset.
  • Microsoft certifications are highly desirable.
  • Experience in Cloud Computing is an asset.
  • CCNA, CCNP, or CCAI certifications are considered beneficial.
  • LPI, Red Hat, or GIAC (GCUX) certifications are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of student success strategies in a postsecondary context.
  • Experience with educational technologies and hybrid/online curriculum development is an asset.
  • Demonstrated academic leadership is a strong asset.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning in teaching and curriculum development is valued.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in preferred teaching competencies.
  • Commitment to the success of all learners.
