About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Planner to join our team at Banque Scotia. As a Financial Planner, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with clients, providing high-quality financial planning and investment advice, and helping clients achieve their unique financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive financial planning and analysis for clients, including retirement planning, wealth management, and estate planning, using financial planning tools and expertise to support clients' financial objectives.
  • Provide trusted financial advice to clients on their investments and retirement planning, leveraging your knowledge and expertise to help them make informed decisions.
  • Work independently as a motivated entrepreneur with minimal supervision, while also being part of a larger team, to identify and pursue new business opportunities and develop strategic relationships with clients and prospects.
  • Promote the growth and development of investment activities in the assigned market area by:
    • Conducting thorough client assessments, including retirement planning, wealth management, and estate planning, using financial planning tools and expertise to support clients' financial objectives.
    • Providing financial advice to clients on their investments and retirement planning, leveraging your knowledge and expertise to help them make informed decisions.
    • Being autonomous and performance-driven in your approach to identify client needs, listen to understand their requirements, and provide tailored financial solutions.
    • Being engaging, educating clients, providing relevant information, and expert advice.
    • Demonstrating a collaborative approach in relationships with peers, clients, and partners.
    • Building relationships, focusing on delivering an exceptional client experience, and developing long-term relationships with existing clients.

Requirements

  • Experience in financial planning and investment sales is preferred.
  • Working towards or having achieved the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation, or equivalent, is an asset.
  • Being a certified investment professional with up-to-date accreditation and being in good standing with the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) or the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) is required.
  • Being results-driven and entrepreneurial, with a minimum of supervision, and being part of a larger team.
  • Knowledge of competitive offerings, market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory environments.
  • Proficiency in both English and French, as per the language needs assessment conducted by Banque Scotia, to communicate with both English-speaking and French-speaking clients.
