Position Overview

As a Fabrication Designer at Mercer Mass Timber, you will play a crucial role in advancing our commitment to eco-friendly design methodologies. Reporting directly to the Director of Fabrication Design, your primary responsibility will be to develop intricate 3D models, detailed shop drawings, comprehensive lists, and CNC programming to streamline the ordering, fabrication, and installation processes of Mass Timber components. You will utilize Cadwork and potentially other Building Information Modeling (BIM) software to create precise models and drawings that align with project specifications. This role offers the flexibility to operate from various locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate precise 3D models and 2D shop drawings efficiently
  • Compile detailed lists for manufacturing requirements
  • Ensure adherence to company standards for quality and consistency
  • Maintain organized project documentation for future reference
  • Provide regular updates regarding task progress and project timelines
  • Identify and resolve potential project challenges
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure project coherence
  • Perform additional duties as required

Qualifications and Skills

  • Technical Degree or Diploma in CAD Technology or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in 3D modeling and drafting
  • Experience with Mass Timber projects is preferred
  • Proficient in software applications such as Cadwork, Revit, and MS Office
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Familiarity with Google Suite
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
