Certified Dental Assistant Opportunity

BC Cancer is seeking a Certified Dental Assistant to join our team in Surrey, BC.

About the Role

The Certified Dental Assistant will participate in the management of patients with medical compromise, performing related booking, chair-side, and clerical duties. This includes making impressions to fabricate gel carriers, constructing and fitting custom gel carriers, and instructing patients on their use.

The successful candidate will also participate in the management of patients with medical compromise, coordinate booking for the dental clinic, and assist the dentist with screening patients and assessing their dental needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform chair-side duties of a dental assistant and maintain infection control
  • Make impressions to fabricate gel carriers and construct and fit custom gel carriers
  • Provide home care instruction to patients
  • Participate in management of patients with medical compromise and coordinate booking for the dental clinic
  • Assist the dentist with screening patients and assessing their dental needs
  • Apply topical chemotherapy
  • Communicate with medical and dental staff as necessary
  • Maintain statistical records

Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized Certified Dental Assistant program
  • One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Current registration with the College of Dental Surgeons
