Job Title: Quality Specialist

At Sunrise Farms, we are seeking a highly skilled Quality Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our FSQA Divisional Team, you will be responsible for the oversight and implementation of our Food Safety and Quality Management System.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide subject matter expertise in Food Safety and Quality Assurance to support the business in areas such as HACCP, PRP, Preventative Controls, and Environmental Monitoring.
  • Develop and implement quality management systems, including auditing, supplier approval, and microbiological examination and chemical analysis testing programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance, Product Development, and Supply Chain, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Analyze data using a Statistical Process Control (SPC) mindset to identify quality program trends and improvements.
  • Act as a backup to other Quality Specialist team members and provide support as needed.
Requirements:
  • Minimum BSc. Degree in Food Science or related discipline.
  • Certification in at least one of the GFSI benchmarked standards.
  • HACCP Certification.
  • 5 years of experience working in the food industry, preferably in the meat/protein industry.
  • Previous experience with implementing and managing a Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS).
  • Working knowledge of food safety regulations in Canada and the USA.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve quality goals.
  • Task-focused with the ability to multitask and reprioritize when necessary.
  • Knowledge transfer aptitude and proficiency in Quality Management Systems hardware and software applications.
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
