Job Title: Second Cook

Join our culinary team at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel in Ottawa, Canada, as a Second Cook. This role is part of our Food and Beverage team, responsible for preparing and serving high-quality dishes to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook food items for a la carte and buffet menus according to hotel recipes and standards.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment.
  • Provide exceptional guest service while supporting fellow colleagues.
  • Follow kitchen policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Assist in various kitchen duties and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in the culinary field is required.
  • Journeyman's papers or international equivalent are an asset.
  • Diploma/Certification in a Culinary discipline is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Aspects of the Position:
  • Constant standing and walking throughout the shift.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
