About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Dietitian to join our Primary Health Care team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a member of our team, you will provide expert knowledge and skills on a wide range of issues from advocacy to assessment to case management.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees to achieve excellence in patient care. You will be responsible for providing health assessment, interventions, and appropriate follow-up in accordance with acts, regulations, policies, standards, guidelines, mission, and objectives of the Registered Dietitians of Canada, the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association, the Department of Health and Wellness - Province of Nova Scotia, and the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

About You
  • You have a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition at a recognized university.
  • You have completed a Dietetic internship (a 1-year integrated or postgraduate program).
  • You are a current member of the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association.
  • You have annual continuing education to maintain your Nova Scotia license.
  • You have two years of clinical experience, preferably in a similar role.
  • You have membership in Dietitians of Canada, preferred.
  • You have current CPR/BLS certification.
  • You have designation as a Certified Diabetes Educator, preferred.
  • You have experience with group education.
  • You have demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
  • You have familiarity with principles of Motivational Interviewing.
  • You have the ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees to achieve excellence in patient care.
  • You have computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint), email, and internet.
  • You have the ability to work well independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • You have effective research and analytical thinking skills.
  • You have competencies in other languages, an asset; French preferred.
Hours
  • This is a permanent part-time position; 22.5 hours bi-weekly.
Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $43.42.

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
