About the Role
The University Health Network is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the pharmacy team in the technical aspects of drug distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications
- Ensure the smooth functioning of pharmacy teams on various sites
- Work under the direct supervision of pharmacists to prepare sterile and non-sterile extemporaneous products
- Participate in the training of new employees and perform other duties and responsibilities consistent with the job classification
- Contribute to the development and implementation of pharmacy policies and procedures
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited college-level Pharmacy Technician Program or recognized equivalent required
- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required
- Two years of practical and related experience preferred
- Previous hospital experience with cytotoxic drug safe handling and sterile intravenous admixture service preferred
- Previous hospital experience with automation technology preferred
- Membership with a professional pharmacy association is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and to manage competing priorities/deadlines
- Ability to learn and troubleshoot changing technologies/machinery (automated dispensing cabinets)
