Position Overview

The Construction Site Manager will possess extensive experience in high-rise concrete construction, overseeing a cutting-edge multi-family project in the Lower Mainland of BC. Reporting directly to the VP of Development & Construction, this role entails comprehensive management of the construction site, team, and subcontractors. The Site Manager is responsible for steering the project from inception to completion while adhering to municipal regulations and ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Site Management Duties:

  • Oversee all facets of the construction project, including site operations, safety protocols, planning, and execution.
  • Guide and mentor Amacon site personnel on policies, procedures, and technical construction methodologies.
  • Manage construction team workloads to achieve project objectives.
  • Maintain accurate construction documentation on-site for easy access to relevant information.
  • Prepare and present progress reports to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure project delivery aligns with established timelines and budget constraints.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Represent the company professionally and ethically to clients, contractors, and staff.
  • Coordinate scheduling of work and material supplies, including a two-week forecast for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Approve completed work and accept materials.
  • Issue purchase orders and verify matching waybills prior to submission.
  • Foster strong working relationships with all suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Lead site trade meetings and participate in safety discussions.
  • Collaborate with trades to arrange for repairs and necessary modifications.
  • Coordinate with municipal and regional inspectors for all required inspections.
  • Consult with engineers, architects, and owners regarding design challenges and change orders after discussions with the Project Manager.
  • Conduct inspections, quality control assessments, and maintain daily reports.

Safety Oversight:

  • Collaborate closely with the Safety Manager.
  • Participate in safety meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with safety documentation, programs, and initiatives.
  • Enforce adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements among construction personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Over 10 years in construction, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role focused on high-rise and multi-family projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction codes and methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of construction trades and high-rise project dynamics.
  • Proficient in reviewing and interpreting architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and documentation practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective communication of technical information.
  • Ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of building robust relationships with diverse stakeholders and working creatively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to make informed decisions independently.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to reliable transportation.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in PC use and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Demands:

The role requires frequent walking, standing, and climbing in and around construction sites. Candidates must maintain a professional appearance and be prepared to work in various weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and wind. The position also involves exposure to hazardous materials, dust, and other particulates. Candidates should be capable of operating a vehicle, processing large volumes of information, and performing physical tasks such as lifting and moving items up to 100 lbs independently.
