Role Overview

The Principal Consultant in Technology, Media, and Telecommunications will report to the Canada BES Business Group Manager and will be a vital member of the business development team. This role is responsible for managing pre-positioning and pursuits within the Technology, Media, and Telecom market sector. The Principal Consultant will work closely with the Tech Media Telecom Sector Director, the National Business Development Director, and regional Marketing Services to create a unified strategy for client development and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regularly coordinate and communicate with all stakeholders, including the BES team, Marketing team, Project Manager, and design team, to ensure successful project pursuits.
  • Develop leads and manage business pursuits, including risk analysis and resource coordination.
  • Mentor junior engineering and design staff, ensuring accountability for their work and assigning routine engineering tasks.
  • Collaborate on international hyperscale and co-location projects throughout the design, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Guide delivery team members and technical personnel in their efforts.
  • Conduct quality checks and reviews for electrical disciplines and ensure multidisciplinary coordination.

Scope of Work

The role encompasses various elements of electrical engineering practice, including:

  • Power Distribution
  • Information Technology
  • Integrated Automation

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or Applied Science
  • Professional Engineering License
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in client and partnership development
  • At least 5 years of experience in data center systems and building design
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience in business development and customer-focused support, particularly in data center facilities; experience in healthcare, science, and education facilities is advantageous
  • Interest in sustainable design is preferred
  • Familiarity with relevant engineering tools and software
  • Prior experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
  • A commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture

Additional Details

This position requires compliance with HDR and contractor safety policies and procedures, potential site visits to support design and construction activities, and possible international travel for workshare efforts.
