We are seeking an Associate Physician to join our team in Vancouver and/or Coquitlam, British Columbia. The successful candidate will practice under the direction of the Medical Director and supervision of the site physician or designate, working in a structured team-based specialty care setting to increase capacity and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct health assessments for each patient and examine, diagnose, and treat patients who are presented for examination.
- Perform and document admission history and physical examinations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and medication reconciliations as per BC College and organizational standards, policies, and guidelines.
- Manage the day-to-day care of patients, including writing medical orders, on charts, and consultations of other services.
- Participate in Medical Staff Meetings, chaired by the Medical Director, to discuss RFHC and/or HCW, and participate in quality improvement projects.
- Comply with Associate Physician programs reporting requirements.
The successful candidate must have a medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, a minimum of two (2) years of accredited postgraduate training verified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC), and successful completion of Part 1 of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or Steps 1 through 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs). The applicant must also meet the CPSBC's English language proficiency requirements, be eligible for registration with the CPSBC in the Associate Physician class, and document in accordance with CPSBC and organizational standards, policies, and guidelines.
The applicant must be able to perform within the scope of Associate Physician duties and responsibilities and should have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work within a team. This includes interacting effectively and collaboratively, adapting effectively with other professionals in complex, dynamic situations, communicating and collaborating with families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and follow-up, and communicating and building relationships with other health professionals and disciplines using a variety of communication strategies.
The successful candidate will also be committed to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per the Truth & Reconciliation Commission and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism, and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments.
Applicants must also have Canadian Citizenship, be a permanent resident, or be legally able to live and work in British Columbia.
As per the current Public Health Order, full vaccination against COVID-19 is a condition of employment with PHSA as of October 26, 2021.
