Role Overview at YMCA Calgary
Reporting to the Camp Director, the Expedition Centre Coordinator is tasked with:
- Organizing the Expedition Centre to facilitate effective expedition planning and preparation
- Coordinating and securing permits for trips throughout the spring and summer
- Leading and participating in spring training and reconnaissance trips
- Evaluating and maintaining trip equipment and backcountry communication tools
- Planning menus and managing food orders, including overseeing food packing
- Coordinating transportation logistics for trips
- Leading backcountry emergency evacuations and providing support during emergencies
- Supervising a team of 2-4 staff members
The Expedition Centre Coordinator will spend the majority of their time outdoors. The role requires the ability to lift supplies, walk, bend, and stand for extended periods.
Due to the nature of the position, it can be physically demanding, necessitating long durations of walking, standing, and engaging in physical activities.
The role will involve moderate bending, lifting, and repetitive movements as required during camp activities.Desired Qualities in YMCA Calgary Staff and Volunteers
