The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is dedicated to enhancing the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services.
Position OverviewThe Security Services team is committed to a recovery-oriented approach that fosters positive relationships with patients, staff, and the community.
This facility provides specialized inpatient mental health and rehabilitation services to individuals in the region.
The Security Specialist is expected to possess the skills necessary to manage a variety of situations and engage effectively with employees, patients, the public, and management. Weekend and holiday shifts are part of the role.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
To ensure the safety and security of approximately 700 staff members, patients, families, and visitors. Responsibilities are carried out on a rotational basis to support patient recovery. This role reflects a strong commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the organization, particularly in relation to patient safety.
Experience- Previous experience in security is preferred.
- Experience in managing security services in challenging situations.
- Familiarity with security technology such as CCTV, communication devices, and access control systems.
- Experience in crisis management and emergency response.
- Background in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
- Completion of high school education, meeting provincial standards, is required.
- Certification from a recognized institution in Security Officer Training, or relevant experience in law enforcement or military service.
- Must hold a valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Must possess a valid Security Guard License.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search is mandatory.
- Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check is required.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Capability to manage difficult and high-pressure situations with composure and respect.
- Knowledge of mental health issues is preferred.
- Ability to interact positively with others.
- Capacity to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Professional demeanor and maturity.
- Effective communication skills.
- This position involves significant walking and the physical capability to manage or remove unauthorized individuals.
- Must be physically fit to perform the duties of the role.
This position may conclude earlier as specified in the collective agreement.
