Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze primary contract and subcontract specifications to identify quality requirements, ensuring alignment of quality activities with project objectives.
  • Conduct visual inspections, oversee testing processes, and document outcomes in accordance with project specifications and Inspection Testing Plans (ITPs).
  • Gather and organize quality turnover documentation for project completion.
  • Serve as a point of contact between craft personnel and the quality management team, providing necessary technical support and guidance.
  • Investigate and identify root causes of nonconformance reports (NCRs) and communicate findings to the quality and project teams.
  • Develop and execute the project quality plan and ITPs in accordance with project specifications.
  • Coordinate and engage in Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) planning activities alongside construction operations.
  • Facilitate meetings with the quality team as required.
  • Collaborate with clients' field QA/QC representatives, third-party testing agencies, and contractor quality personnel.
  • Ensure compliance of suppliers and vendors with project specifications, including verification of delivered materials.
Qualifications
  • Craftsperson certificate or a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of demonstrated experience in quality control and/or the construction sector, with a preference for supervisory and leadership roles.
  • Thorough understanding of the construction industry, including specifications, drawings, methods, and procedures.
  • Exceptional construction inspection capabilities across a wide range of work scopes.
  • Knowledge of various engineering systems, principles, and practices.
  • Strong comprehension of construction industry codes and the ability to interpret them.
  • Familiarity with planning and sequencing methodologies.
  • Ability to identify quality risks associated with projects.
  • Proficient in interpreting plans and specifications, visualizing two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • Experience conducting internal project quality assessments.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize work, and delegate effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage difficult conversations, effectively resolving disputes with contractors and supervisors.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor team members.
  • Adaptability to new technologies.
  • Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) level II or III certification.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) designation.
  • Preferred API (American Petroleum Institute) 510/570/653 inspector certification.
  • Advanced proficiency in quality management software applications.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
