As a Unit Clerk, you will play a vital role in providing administrative support to our healthcare team, ensuring the smooth operation of our unit, and delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide administrative support to the healthcare team, including answering phone calls, taking messages, and relaying information to staff members.
- Enter patient information into our electronic medical record system, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
- Coordinate patient transfers, admissions, and discharges, ensuring seamless communication with other departments and healthcare providers.
- Prepare and maintain patient charts, including updating medical records, filing documents, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform various administrative tasks, such as data entry, filing, and photocopying, to support the efficient operation of the unit.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure effective communication, coordination, and delivery of patient care.
- Grade 12 graduation.
- Graduation from an approved Nursing Unit Clerk program.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- One (1) year of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to demonstrate:
- Keyboarding skills of at least 40 wpm.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Knowledge of computer software applications and ability to learn new systems.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
