Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Analyst to join our team at the Royal Bank of Canada. As a key member of our Global Functions Technology division, you will play a critical role in delivering innovative and transformative IT solutions to our clients.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing, translating, and documenting business requirements, providing guidance, and recommending solutions to our stakeholders. You will work closely with various Finance, Risk, and IT teams to drive requirements discovery and elicitation, plan and lead requirement discussions, and collaborate with key stakeholders to build consensus and drive towards delivery of the right solution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the analysis effort on multiple initiatives impacting the CGID application.
  • Drive requirements discovery and elicitation from Finance and Risk stakeholders from a backlog of internal and external requests.
  • Plan and lead requirement discussions, capturing data and business rules requirements.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and IT team members to build consensus and drive towards delivery of the right solution.
  • Analyze, translate, and document Finance requirements into business and functional specifications for IT Development team.
  • Identify relevant upstream and downstream dependencies and follow up with stakeholders for input or sign-offs on a timely basis.
  • Develop effort estimates for analysis and requirements activities, including BRD preparation and Functional Interface specifications.
  • Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members and stakeholders across multiple projects and functions.
  • Provide hands-on support during various cycles of testing, including Functional Testing, Quality Assurance, Systems Integration Testing, and User Acceptance Testing.
  • Contribute to process re-engineering and process improvement as required.
Requirements
  • 3 years' experience working as a Business Analyst supporting the delivery of Finance or Risk Reporting solutions, with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a Data Analysis capacity.
  • Strong Data Analysis and Data Manipulation Skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to break down assignments and follow through with minimal guidance.
  • Financial or Regulatory Reporting experience (from a BA or line perspective).
  • Strong Problem Solving and Analytical Skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to generate high-quality product (low re-work/errors).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools, including Excel and Access.
  • Knowledge in writing SQL statements.
  • Experience working on cross-business and technology data programs.
  • Proficient experience with Software Development LifeCycle process, Agile, Iterative Waterfall, and IT terms and methods.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various business and technical teams, including offshore.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Relevant university or post-graduate degree in Finance or IT-related discipline.
