Position Overview

The Community Outreach Worker (COW) is an integral part of the healthcare team, tasked with delivering a spectrum of clinical services to adults and their families impacted by mental health challenges and/or substance use disorders. This role encompasses both clinical and community environments, providing essential services such as screening, assessment, brief interventions, case management, and both individual and group therapeutic sessions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and screenings to identify client needs.
  • Implement brief intervention strategies and provide case management support.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, focusing on recovery and harm reduction.
  • Advocate for clients and coordinate access to necessary resources and services.
  • Utilize principles of community development and psychosocial rehabilitation in practice.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor of Social Work degree.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with a professional regulatory body.
  • A minimum of one year of clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions.
  • Strong skills in screening and risk assessment, particularly in suicide prevention.
  • Proficiency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Experience in facilitating group sessions and employing motivational interviewing techniques.
  • A solid understanding of community resources and recovery-oriented practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster collaborative relationships.

Work Environment

This is a permanent full-time position requiring 75 hours biweekly, with potential travel to various locations as needed.
