Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Recreation Assistant
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a dedicated Recreation Assistant to become part of our team. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for our patients through engaging recreational activities.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate within a team-oriented environment to implement recreation programs in partnership with the Recreation Therapist. Responsibilities include: organizing and supervising patients/clients/residents during outings, coordinating the transport of patients/clients/residents to and from activities, demonstrating recreation activity techniques, adapting recreation activities as instructed by the Recreation Therapist to support patients/clients/residents in achieving their highest level of independence, providing guidance to volunteers, assessing and reporting relevant observations regarding patient/client/resident engagement to the Recreation Therapist or interdisciplinary team, arranging furnishings and equipment for scheduled activities, maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment. May operate a bus with a capacity of up to 25 passengers (including the driver) for transporting patients/clients/residents to community activities as required.Qualifications
Education & Experience
Completion of a recognized Recreation Diploma Program or a comparable combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Class 4 vehicle license (unrestricted) is preferred.Skills & Competencies
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to instruct and teach effectively. Proficient in organizing tasks and responsibilities. Physical capability to fulfill the duties of the position. Competence in operating relevant equipment. Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with others.Additional Information
A valid Class 4 vehicle license (unrestricted) is preferred.
Work hours, including days off and work areas, may vary based on operational needs and applicable agreements. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
