We are currently in search of a qualified Project Planner – Commissioning to enhance our team. This role is ideally suited for candidates based in project offices or head offices. The position entails site travel during critical phases of the project. The Project Planner – Commissioning will be tasked with planning and scheduling the commissioning stages of projects within the Energy and Mining & Infrastructure sectors. This role also includes providing guidance to other planners and engaging in the Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV) for the execution of engineering and construction tasks at a significant mining project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate directly with engineers, procurement experts, construction supervisors, and management during both the planning and execution phases of projects.
- Engage with the Client Project Management team as needed, offering effective solutions related to planning and scheduling.
- Develop Resource-loaded Baseline Schedules and Schedule Basis documents, outlining execution strategies and key assumptions.
- Regularly update and maintain project schedules, tracking progress and performance metrics.
- Provide independent analysis and develop workarounds to address schedule delays when necessary.
- Coordinate with project controls teams, including cost analysts and estimators, to ensure alignment between schedules and cost management systems.
- Assess potential changes against project scope and execution plans, providing insights on schedule impacts.
- Supervise junior and intermediate schedulers, particularly regarding construction interfaces.
- Assist in managing transitions from construction to commissioning and from commissioning to operations.
- Collaborate with the team on Integrated Level-4/Level-5 schedules from Construction to Pre-commissioning.
- A degree in Engineering or Business, or a relevant qualification in Planning/Scheduling, Project Controls, or Project Management.
- At least 10 years of experience in Planning and Scheduling.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in developing construction schedules.
- Relevant experience in cost control and monitoring.
- Professional experience primarily in the Canadian oil, gas, petrochemicals, and mining & infrastructure sectors, preferably with Engineering or EPC Consultants.
- Strong understanding of CPM scheduling concepts.
- Advanced proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6.
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues effectively.
- Eligibility to work and remain in the country of assignment.
