About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at Heidelberg Materials US, Inc.

This is a full-time position based in Ottawa, Ontario, and will involve working across various facilities in the Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec regions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety requirements outlined by the provinces and company policy to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Inspect and perform preventative maintenance duties on equipment, adhering to manufacturer specifications.
  • Upgrade and Improve: Upgrade areas with new equipment and technology to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Equipment Inspection and Repair: Inspect, diagnose, and repair plant equipment using various hand tools, power tools, and shop machines.
  • Major Repairs and Maintenance: Perform major repairs to crushers, including changing jaw dies, bearings, bushings, and crusher mantles.
  • Conveyor and Hydraulic Systems: Repair conveyor belts, feeders, and hydraulic systems to ensure smooth operation.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with outside contractors on special projects and maintain a willingness to operate individually or within a team environment.
  • Housekeeping and Organization: Maintain a clean and organized workspace to access equipment and complete repair tasks efficiently.
Requirements
  • Experience and Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical troubleshooting and repair, or formal technical training.
  • Welding and Fabrication: 2+ years of diversified welding experience and proficiency in ARC and MIG welding.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, mechanical moving parts, and ability to read and fabricate from drawings.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends to meet production requirements as needed.
