About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Designer - Automation Expert to join our team at JMP Solutions, A Convergix Company. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing automation solutions that drive business growth and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Critical Review and Assessment: Conduct thorough reviews and assessments of proposals and concepts prior to purchase order to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Customer Process Expertise: Develop in-depth knowledge of customer processes and become a local expert to support design, integration, and build of robotics systems.
  • Functional Requirements: Review and assess functional requirements of concepts provided by the applications/sales group to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
  • Design Plans: Create functional design plans based on preliminary concepts and pricing guidelines to ensure effective automation solutions.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Collaborate with the team to identify and mitigate risks associated with automation projects.
  • Design Reviews: Participate in mechanical, electrical, and controls design reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Supplier Management: Create and contribute to supplier statement of work requirements to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of automation solutions.
  • Technical Leadership: Demonstrate technical leadership abilities through execution of project deliverables, planning, and monitoring to drive the team to meet technical milestones.
  • Technical Analysis: Approve, create, review, and support deep dive and in-depth calculations and analysis for cycle time, simulation, accuracy, gauge reproducibility, and reliability studies, and machine performance control requirements.
Requirements
  • Technical Expertise: Possess significant experience in multiple fields of design, applications, project management, controls, robotics, or customer machinery.
  • Automation Experience: Have experience with motion controls, robots, vision systems, and project engineering.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrate ability to collaborate and foster a leadership role, while controlling technical solutions and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Communication Skills: Possess amazing communication skills to make presentations to internal teams, customers, and vendor partners.
  • Education: Hold a post-secondary degree or diploma in Systems Design, Engineering Physics, Engineering Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Have a minimum of 10+ years of background in at least two areas of expertise or discipline, including but not limited to manufacturing engineering, test engineering, applications engineering, mechanical design engineering, electrical design engineering, MES/SCADA data systems, control system engineering/integration.
  • Portfolio: Possess a portfolio of projects that demonstrate significant contributions in design analysis, system accuracy, cycle time, kinematics, reliability/maintainability, technical risk assessment, design for automation, functional planning, design specifications, acceptance test plans, 3rd party qualification, and continuous improvement process.
  • Soft Skills: Demonstrate track record of creative problem-solving in a team-oriented environment and creating alignment between stakeholders.
