Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Naval Architect to join our team and assist with current and upcoming projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day support for ship design and analysis activities, performing mechanical/structural design and drafting tasks, and assisting with design calculations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support ship design and analysis activities, including finite element analysis and structural design.
  • Perform mechanical/structural design and drafting tasks for new build and vessel modifications.
  • Assist with design calculations, including finite element analysis and stress analysis.
  • Provide general support to other Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering activities.
  • Stay up-to-date with marine industry developments, standards, regulations, and codes.
  • Represent Blumara at industry events, conferences, and meetings as necessary.
  • Contribute to a productive work environment based on mutual trust and respect, while carrying out all work in a safe and effective manner.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Naval Architecture or a related field.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PEng) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) working towards PEng status.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Rhino (or other 3D modeling software).
  • Experience in the design and analysis of ship structures and/or mechanical systems.
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working with collaborators, contractors, and consultants.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in Naval vessel design.
  • Experience in ship safety and certification.
  • Experience working in the offshore environment.
  • Experience with Classification Society Rules and Transport Canada Regulations.
