About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Health Care Assistant to join our team at Senior Helpers - Kelowna. As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our clients in the comfort of their own homes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting with Daily Living Activities: Assist clients with bathing, grooming, dressing, and other activities of daily living.
  • Instrumental Activities of Daily Living: Assist clients with light housekeeping, meal preparation, and other instrumental activities of daily living.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor clients' conditions and report any changes to the healthcare team.
  • Mobility and Transferring: Assist clients with mobility and transferring patients safely.
  • Eating and Drinking Support: Support clients with eating and drinking, adhering to dietary requirements.
  • Medication Reminders: Assist with medication reminders and medication administration under supervision.
  • Environment Maintenance: Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients.
  • Emotional Support: Provide emotional support and companionship to clients and their families.
Requirements
  • Compassionate Demeanor: Possess a compassionate and empathetic demeanor.
  • Excellent Communication: Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Language Proficiency: Must be able to speak and write in English. Other languages will be an asset.
  • Registration and Certification: Current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry and completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program.
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Health and Safety: Negative TB test completed in the past 90 days and a negative Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued in the past 90 days.
  • CPR and First Aid: Certification in CPR and First Aid (preferred).
  • Reliable Transportation: Reliable transportation and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
