A Rehabilitation Specialist plays a crucial role in the healthcare system, assisting patients in overcoming challenges that hinder their ability to engage in meaningful activities.

These activities encompass a range of essential functions, including:

  • Self-care tasks (such as dressing, eating, and mobility)
  • Productive engagements (including education, employment, and community participation)
  • Leisure pursuits (like sports, fitness, social interactions, and hobbies)

In essence, Rehabilitation Specialists enhance patients' daily lives, focusing on therapeutic interventions for both physical and mental health.

Services are delivered in various settings, including patients' homes, community clinics, hospitals, and care facilities, as well as within private industry and governmental organizations.

Rehabilitation Specialists collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams across the province, ensuring optimal patient care, which may involve working alongside Occupational Therapist Assistants.

Work schedules are flexible, with shifts designed to meet the healthcare demands of facilities or clinics, including availability on weekends and during the day.

Career Advancement Opportunities

As a Rehabilitation Specialist, you will have the chance to pursue advanced training in specialized fields and explore management and leadership roles.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Saskatchewan College of Occupational Therapists

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary ranging from $38.247 to $50.51 for Senior Rehabilitation Specialists
  • Recruitment incentives up to $10,000 (with $5,000 for specific regions) and relocation assistance up to $3,000
