Job Summary

Georgian College is seeking a qualified Academic Instructor to develop and deliver courses in the Electrical Apprentice Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining a positive learning environment, evaluating student progress, and participating in program activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver courses in Electronics, Instrumentations, Theory, and Installations as outlined by the Apprenticeship curriculum standard for Electrical apprenticeship
  • Develop and deliver appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching/learning strategies to meet student needs
  • Evaluate student progress/achievement
  • Participate in program and college activities as required
  • Participate in program revision and renewal activities as required
Qualifications
  • Must have a valid Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician – Construction and Maintenance (309A) or Industrial Electrician (442A)
  • Familiarity with industry software, standards, and current work practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to a safe work culture, life-long learning, and continuous quality improvement
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
  • Experience in some or all of the following is an asset: curriculum development, a variety of delivery and evaluation strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
  • Teaching and Training Adults certification and/or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset
