Role Overview:

As part of our evolving team, you will lead Software Engineering, Platform Development, and Quality Assurance at Financeit. We are looking for a candidate who can deliver strong technical guidance, nurture a positive and innovative atmosphere, and connect our technical teams with business objectives. This position is vital for steering our team through its growth phase while ensuring alignment with our strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Oversight:

  1. Manage all engineering and QA functions, including the upkeep and support of third-party tools and integrations.
  2. Collaborate closely with the lead developer to implement best practices, enhance tooling, and tackle technical debt.
  3. Ensure teams are equipped with the necessary tools for efficient operation and maintain our CI/CD framework.
  4. Expand our automated testing framework to improve QA team productivity.
  5. Assist in transitioning enterprise clients from legacy systems to modern platforms.

Cultural Development:

  1. Encourage a culture of learning and continuous improvement, motivating the team to investigate new technologies and methodologies.
  2. Partner with the agile coach to enhance the team's agile practices and processes.

Business Acumen:

  1. Collaborate with business and product teams on estimation and project delivery, ensuring technical solutions align with business goals.
  2. Represent the technical team in business discussions, providing clear updates on project progress, technical challenges, and successes.
  3. Work with product management to assess the effort required for roadmap deliverables and client requests.

Additional Duties:

  1. Develop a comprehensive understanding of Financeit's business objectives and ensure the engineering team aligns with these goals.
  2. Assist the Director of Cybersecurity in gathering evidence for annual audits and uphold cybersecurity best practices.
  3. Coordinate with the DevOps team to advocate for technical needs and help manage on-call support.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you will need:

  1. A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT Management, or a related field.
  2. Over 8 years of experience in Software Development.
  3. At least 5 years in a senior technical leadership position, ideally within a small to medium-sized tech team.
  4. A proven ability to cultivate a positive and innovative culture within an engineering team.
  5. Extensive experience collaborating with business and product teams, focusing on estimation and project delivery.
  6. Experience leading cross-functional teams with varying levels of expertise.
  7. A solid understanding of agile methodologies and a history of working with agile coaches to enhance team performance.
  8. Exceptional communication skills, capable of representing the technical team in business discussions.
  9. The ability to assess team structure and optimize talent to drive business success.
  10. Experience in scaling and managing a growing team while delivering software on schedule and within budget.
  11. Knowledge of DevOps practices and server management/configuration.
  12. Experience in a CI/CD agile environment where delivering quality incremental value is essential.
