About the Position

The Edmonton Convention Centre is seeking a part-time Custodial Supervisor to oversee the Building Services team. Reporting to the Manager of Building Services, the Custodial Supervisor will be responsible for the daily oversight of custodial operations, ensuring that all operational and departmental requirements are fulfilled while upholding a standard of excellence. This role involves setting the benchmark for each shift and demonstrating efficient work practices without compromising quality. Compliance with the Edmonton Convention Centre Policies and Procedures, Building Services Standard Operating Procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety standards is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Manager of Building Services in preparing and distributing daily assignments.
  • Coach team members on new tasks and identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee the team to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Retrieve daily updates and event information from the online booking system.
  • Enter and track work orders for equipment and maintenance needs.
  • Train team members on cleaning techniques and the use of new equipment.
  • Conduct shift briefings and safety meetings.
  • Perform monthly, daily, and annual inspections.
  • Assist with site inventory management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the main storage area.
  • Ensure adherence to WHMIS and safe work practices by the team.
  • Operate floor machinery as required.
  • Perform cleaning tasks including washroom maintenance, sweeping, mopping, and wall washing.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-3 years of custodial experience in an event or venue setting.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety practices is an asset.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and overnight shifts, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
