Job Summary

Baycrest is seeking a skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing therapeutic programs that promote leisure and well-being for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Therapeutic Recreation and Culture & Arts teams to design and deliver innovative programs that cater to diverse needs and interests.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify client goals and objectives, and develop personalized plans to achieve them.
  • Work closely with interprofessional teams to ensure seamless delivery of services and effective communication.
  • Supervise and train volunteers to ensure they are equipped to provide high-quality support to clients.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of inventory management systems to ensure efficient program delivery.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a two-year College Diploma in Recreation or a related field.
  • Membership in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario or Activity Professionals of Ontario.
  • Proven experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating creative recreation programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with geriatric populations with multiple medical conditions and/or cognitive impairment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community resources and Jewish culture, Holy Days, and festivals is an asset.
  • Second language proficiency, such as Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian, or Hungarian, is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
