Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Java Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Backend Java Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying large-scale distributed systems using Java and other technologies. You will work closely with our team of developers, designers, and product managers to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop large-scale distributed systems using Java and other technologies
  • Work closely with the development team to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Collaborate with designers and product managers to ensure that solutions meet the needs of our clients
  • Develop and maintain high-quality code that is scalable, maintainable, and secure
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure that code meets the highest standards of quality and security
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the industry

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field
  • 7+ years of production-level experience in Java
  • Experience with SOAP and RESTful Web Services and tools like XML, JSON, and RAML
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture
  • Experience with unit testing using JUnit
  • Knowledge of application servers like Tomcat, WebSphere, Weblogic, or JBoss
  • Strong grasp of Git, Subversion, and other source control technologies
  • Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and frameworks like Apache Camel
  • Experience developing large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience working on a SaaS platform or with service-oriented architectures
  • Experience with cloud technologies, e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes
  • Experience with security and systems that handle sensitive data
  • Good knowledge of SQL
  • Experience in the financial services industry or professional services experience is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with credit unions or banks and integrating/tailoring digital banking platforms
  • Experience with or knowledge of Agile Methodology, such as Scrum and Kanban
  • Knowledge of test-driven development (TDD) and continuous integration (CI)
  • Web application security (OWASP) and best practices for writing secure code
  • Persistence frameworks like Hibernate
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure
  • Databases such as MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, or NoSQL
