Your Opportunity:

The Surgical Processor at the Colon Cancer Screening Centre (CCSC) plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will be responsible for the decontamination, reassembly, and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment, and surgical instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform testing and basic maintenance of equipment and its functionality
  • Support maintaining supplies at CCSC through ordering, distribution, and stocking as needed
  • Maintain equipment storage cupboards and ensure that all technical equipment is appropriately stored
  • Use principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI)
  • Ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical, and quality assurance testing, and report problems to the supervisor or designate
Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program
  • Completion of a Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification
  • Excellent verbal communication skills working with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work in an enclosed area that requires standing for long periods, frequent walking, bending, lifting, and constant repetitive motions
  • Carrying weights of up to 20 lbs for small periods at a time is an expectation of this position
  • Frequent handling of chemicals and biohazard materials requires the use of protective gear, including a mask, protective eyewear, gloves, and clothing
