Position Overview:

The Meat Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the effective operation of the meat section, ensuring customers receive high-quality meat products while delivering exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all meat department personnel to guarantee efficient and friendly customer service.
  • Ensure smooth transition of products from receiving to cutting and wrapping.
  • Address customer inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly, maintaining positive customer relations.
  • Drive sales and profitability, ensuring that sales targets and budgets are achieved.
  • Recruit part-time staff and provide training for new team members.
  • Create work schedules for meat clerks while managing wage costs effectively.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies while ensuring adherence to union agreements.
  • Maintain the quality and condition of all fresh meat displays, freezers, and coolers.
  • Uphold safety and sanitation standards within the department.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Willingness to take responsibility for fresh meat production.
  • Three to five years of experience in the retail meat sector.
  • Previous management experience is a significant advantage.
  • Completion of Grade 12 with a Meat Cutter Apprenticeship Certificate.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
