Principal Software Engineer - Compliance and Security Architect

Your Role:
As a Principal Software Engineer at New Relic, you will take on the pivotal role of Compliance Architect, focusing on the development of robust compliance strategies and secure solutions within our cloud platform. Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement a comprehensive compliance strategy that aligns with industry standards and best practices.

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to integrate compliance requirements into the software development lifecycle.
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and develop corrective action plans.
  • Act as the primary engineering contact for auditors, providing necessary documentation and participating in compliance evaluations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on compliance issues to internal stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and emerging technologies to enhance our compliance framework continually.
  • Provide training and guidance to engineering teams on secure coding practices and compliance integration.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience as a software engineer with a focus on compliance architecture.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, and ISO.
  • Strong grasp of DevSecOps practices and their application throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing compliance strategies in a SaaS or cloud environment.
  • Proficiency in secure coding practices, with experience in Java and/or Golang.
  • Familiarity with security and compliance tools and technologies.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with diverse teams.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Availability for on-call support when required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant certifications in compliance or security (e.g., CISSP, CISA).
  • Understanding of risk management principles and compliance risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing methodologies.
  • Experience with identity and access management solutions.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and practices.
