About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Legal Advisor to join our team at CPKC. As a key member of our Legal Services department, you will provide expert legal advice and support to our business units, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal opinions and advice on corporate governance matters, including securities laws and cross-border public financing.
  • Support the Office of the Corporate Secretary in various corporate governance matters.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Treasury, Pension, Financial Reporting, and Sustainability teams.
  • Research and analyze complex legal issues, providing recommendations for business solutions.
  • Review and draft contracts, agreements, and other documents related to corporate operations.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel to ensure effective and efficient legal services.
Requirements
  • Membership in the Law Society of one or more provinces of Canada.
  • 5-8 years of experience in corporate law, including transactional experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in securities laws, cross-border public financing, and corporate governance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
