The RN possesses the expertise, skills, and judgment necessary for delivering competent, evidence-based nursing services. They are responsible for the formulation, execution, and continuous assessment of care plans aimed at achieving optimal patient outcomes. Additionally, the RN plays a vital role in mentoring students and colleagues, contributing to the efficient operation of the unit, coordination of patient care, and staffing.
Professional DevelopmentThe RN takes ownership of their professional growth by engaging in ongoing education, research, and quality improvement initiatives. They adhere to the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics and the Nova Scotia College of Nursing Standards, along with relevant specialty standards and organizational policies.
QualificationsWe invite applications from candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program and eligibility for registration in Nova Scotia.
- Preferred experience in medical/surgical/neuro critical care nursing.
- Completion of a Critical Care nursing program or equivalent is highly regarded.
- Experience in neurosurgery and trauma is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Proficiency in additional languages is a plus, with a preference for French.
- This is a permanent full-time position, requiring 75 hours bi-weekly.
- Shifts will include a combination of days, nights, and weekends.
The hourly wage starts at $49.01, increasing to $50.73 for those with 25 years of RN experience. Successful candidates may also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
