About the Role

At BGIS, we are seeking a highly skilled Stationary Engineer to join our team in the National Capital Area. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for performing operational work in a central heating and cooling plant, ensuring the safe and continuous control of temperature to meet our clients' specific environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain various registered central heating and cooling plants, including boilers, chillers, generators, and distribution systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical equipment, including computer systems.
  • Start up and shut down large oil and gas fired boilers and generators, adjust controls, and remove and replace parts as needed.
  • Conduct standardized tests to determine chemical concentrations in water and use a variety of hand and power tools in the work.
  • Work with a variety of computer software programs and prepare work orders, documents, and reports as required.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience at the Class 3 level.
  • Significant knowledge of the operation of heating and cooling plant equipment and systems, including boilers, chillers, generators, and distribution systems.
  • General knowledge of federal and provincial regulations related to environmental standards and occupational health and safety in plant operations.
  • Manual dexterity to repair and overhaul operating plant and extensive distribution systems equipment, pumps, valves, expansion joints, and fans.
  • Written and verbal communication skills to record information, prepare reports, and describe mechanical problems to colleagues.
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
  • 3rd class Stationary Engineer certification.
