Key Responsibilities- Data Quality Improvement
- Perform needs assessments, gap analyses, and data analysis on various datasets.
- Lead discussions, vendor selection, and implementation of solutions to ensure data quality.
- Coordinate and promote data stewardship activities and projects.
- Analyze data issues with key stakeholders and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Plan future data quality management initiatives and create related standards, processes, and procedures.
- Metadata Management
- Lead and provide subject matter expertise to data stewards and other teams on metadata capture and use.
- Coordinate and promote metadata management activities and projects.
- Respond to data accessibility and metadata questions, and explain data models.
- Develop data quality and metadata management solutions, including metadata repositories and master data management.
- Lead discussions, vendor selection, and implementation of solutions to enable metadata management capabilities.
- Team Management
- Manage the performance of direct reports and provide coaching and regular feedback.
- Build networks with managers, supervisors, and team leads within the organization.
- Promote career development and ongoing training and development of direct reports.
- Attend leadership forums and group management meetings, and disseminate information and issues within the team.
- Support the communication of Association and departmental objectives to staff.
- Other Activities
- Create and maintain data management frameworks, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with privacy management, information management, and security management artifacts.
- Support and lead other data governance projects, including status reports and issue resolution within the team.
- Collaborate with BI team members, data stewards, ITS team members, and data analysts to achieve objectives.
- Lead and coordinate training users on data quality and metadata management concepts, data standards, and procedures.
- 4-year bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field of study; master's degree an asset.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant and progressive experience, with a minimum of 4 years of data governance experience and preferably a minimum of 2 years of people leadership experience.
- Professional designation as a Certified Business Intelligence Professional, Certified Data Management Professional, Certified Data Professional, or Project Management Professional is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing methodologies.
- Experience interacting with all levels within an organization is essential.
- Experience managing a small team of professionals.
- Experience working in and leading cross-functional teams in a project-based environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Fully competent to lead cross-functional project teams and provide guidance to other team members.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a group setting or one-on-one to explain complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical team members.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with users to meet their needs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret analytical results and report findings in a meaningful way to the intended audience.
