About this Opportunity

Cenovus is seeking an experienced Operations Senior Shift Supervisor to join our team in Lloydminster. This role is responsible for coordinating all shift activities, providing mentorship, and directly supervising the execution of daily operations to ensure alignment with the facility's overall strategy.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in oil and gas operations, with experience in a Refinery/Upgrading facility. They will be responsible for ensuring that operations are conducted in compliance with the plant operating license, technical specifications, procedures, and company requirements, while maintaining strict oversight of safety protocols within the Upgrader.

Work Environment

This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area. The role involves working a shift rotation comprised of a 12-hour shift rotating between days/nights, including working weekends and statutory holidays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall direction and support for Operations personnel to achieve operational objectives, including overseeing daily activities and scheduling.
  • Provide input and coordination of plant optimization efforts, plant start-ups/shutdowns, process recovery, and activation of the ERT as required.
  • Champion Health, Safety and Environmental compliance management to ensure safe and reliable operation of the Lloydminster Upgrader.
  • Ensure daily orders, maintenance schedule, and short-term plans are completed.
  • Handle work order approval process and maintain paper and electronic logs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Maintenance, Turnaround, Operations, and Engineering.
  • Coach and mentor Operations personnel, including Operator training and development plans.
Requirements
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate, with a 2nd Class Power Engineering certification being considered an asset.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in oil and gas operations, with experience in a Refinery/Upgrading facility being an asset.
  • Experience with safety management systems, practices, regulations, and standards.
  • Leadership skills, including experience with mentoring, guiding, and developing personnel.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, organization, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and decision-making abilities.
