Job Title: Executive Director

We are seeking an experienced Executive Director to join our team at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of our defined benefit pension investment strategy.

About the Role:

The Executive Director will be responsible for:

  • Total Portfolio Management (TPM) - Designing, implementing, and managing the investment strategy and portfolio construction process for the CIBC Pension Plan.
  • Investment Analytics - Providing leadership and technical support to operationalize analytical, modelling, and performance monitoring capabilities to support the TPM function.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in investment management, with a minimum of 10-15 years of experience in a large pension plan, endowment, investment/actuarial consultancy, or asset manager.

Key Responsibilities:

The Executive Director will be responsible for:

  • Developing and recommending asset mix allocations to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) that provide engineered outcomes based on competing objectives and constraints.
  • Leading strategic Asset Liability Management (ALM) studies with a combination of quantitative modeling, scenario analysis, and qualitative assessment.
  • Providing ad-hoc analysis on potential asset mix changes and tactical tilts.

The Executive Director will also be responsible for:

  • Developing dashboards and reports that identify and monitor key risk indicators, performance trends, and support the CIO's strategic and tactical investment decision making.
  • Providing timely and accurate end-to-end performance monitoring, modelling, and analytics.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in a large pension plan, endowment, investment/actuarial consultancy, or asset manager.
  • Expert knowledge of capital markets and public asset classes, including liquid alternatives.
  • Comprehensive understanding of pension plan and/or institutional investing.
  • Well-developed stakeholder management skills.
