Position Overview

Join our team as a Registered Nurse at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses to become part of the Operating Rooms team. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about providing exceptional care to patients in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse - Critical Care/Emergency/PACU include:

Deliver emergency nursing services to patients of various ages presenting with diverse symptoms in unpredictable settings, as well as care for critically ill patients connected to life-support systems, and those recovering from anesthesia. Act as a member of the emergency response team, stabilizing and resuscitating multi-trauma patients, and preparing for and responding to emergency situations. Enhance the quality of life from the perspective of patients and their families. Collaborate and communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals. Exhibit expertise and leadership in nursing practices. Maintain and improve clinical skills and knowledge. Participate in designated hospital committees and approved research initiatives as assigned.

Relocation Support and Staff Housing may be available. Nurses may qualify for student loan forgiveness for British Columbia student loans.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is mandatory. Completion of a recognized critical care nursing program or an advanced program in emergency care nursing, or two (2) years of recent, relevant experience.

Knowledge & Skills

Extensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a patient-centered care framework. Familiarity with BCCNM's standards for nursing practice. Proven ability in nursing practice relevant to the designated patient population. Competence in planning and implementing care strategies based on patient and family needs. Strong assessment and interviewing skills. Ability to respond appropriately to patient care needs and adjust to unexpected situations. Skills in managing trauma in emergency settings. Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to counsel and educate patients and their families based on their individual needs. Demonstrated leadership capabilities. Physical ability to perform the duties of the role. Proficiency in using medical equipment relevant to the clinical area. Basic computer skills to operate patient care information systems.
