Position Overview

The Clinical Education Manager plays a pivotal role in leading clinical and professional education initiatives. This position is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, client-centered care through effective education programming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership in Clinical Practice: Provide strategic support to senior management in clinical professional practice and performance improvement.
  • Needs Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments to identify educational needs and develop tailored programming that aligns with organizational objectives.
  • Competency Development: Ensure that core competencies for clinical staff are identified, developed, and maintained.
  • Program Development: Collaborate with fellow Clinical Education Managers to create standardized practice education programs.
  • Employee Lifecycle Management: Participate in recruitment, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions for clinical roles.
  • Program Evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of educational programs and revise content as necessary.
  • Integrated Education: Develop a cohesive practice education program that supports service delivery across various business lines.
  • Clinical Guidance: Offer clinical support to staff, facilitating the integration of new knowledge and best practices into care delivery.
  • Performance Assessment: Observe and evaluate clinical staff performance in accordance with established standards.
  • Data Utilization: Use patient and family experience data to inform performance improvement initiatives.
  • Individual Learning Plans: Assist staff in creating personalized learning plans and performance improvement strategies.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure clinical practice adheres to relevant policies, legislation, and standards.
  • Excellence in Care: Promote high standards of clinical care through evidence-based decision-making.
  • Regional Education Development: Contribute to the creation and evaluation of regional practice education initiatives.

Business and Financial Management:

  • Engage in quality improvement activities to meet performance targets.
  • Collaborate with program managers to ensure efficient delivery of nursing and community support services.

Organizational Leadership:

  • Work collaboratively across departments to enhance front-line care delivery.
  • Build partnerships within the organization and the community to ensure relevant educational materials.
  • Participate in local, regional, or national committees as required.
  • Foster a culture of learning and professional development among staff.

Common Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the values and goals of the organization as a community care provider.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy workplace in compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and confidentiality regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to deliver quality services.

External and Internal Relationships:

  • Engage with client organizations, health authorities, and educational institutions as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BScN, BN) required; Master's preferred.
  • Current registration with the provincial nursing regulatory body.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical nursing experience.
  • Experience in homecare settings is advantageous.
  • Certification or experience in Gerontology is beneficial.
  • Adult education certification or further education in adult learning preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing educational programs and materials.
  • Strong understanding of educational theories and their practical application.
  • Experience in clinical education using adult education principles.
  • Knowledge of wound care, IV therapy, and palliative care is a plus.
  • CNA certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of skin and wound management is an asset.
