About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Welder Assistant to join our team at Maple Leaf Railing Ltd. As a key member of our metal fabrication department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our welding processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Metal Cleaning Equipment: Safely operate metal cleaning equipment to remove excess welds, rust, scale, and other materials from metal products.
  • Cleaning Solutions: Immerse metal products in cleaning solutions to achieve optimal results.
  • Assist Metal Workers: Assist structural steel and platework fitters, sheet metal workers, metal machine operators, or other metal workers as needed.
  • Material Sorting: Sort metal sheets and parts, scrap metal, and other materials to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Grinding and Chipping: Grind or chip excess metal from metal products using hand tools.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean machines and immediate work areas to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Loading and Unloading: Load and unload vehicles with metal products and equipment.
  • Polishing: Polish metal products to a mirror finish as required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Physically Demanding: This role requires physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Heavy Lifting: You will be required to handle heavy loads and equipment.
Personal Qualities and Experience
