Job Summary
The Health Sciences Centre is seeking a skilled Industrial Mechanic to join our team. As an Industrial Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing installation, testing, analysis, maintenance, and repair tasks of any degree of complexity on hospital buildings, building services, building service equipment, and a wide variety of departmental equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, testing, analysis, maintenance, and repair tasks on hospital buildings, building services, building service equipment, and departmental equipment.
- Respond to emergency calls throughout the Centre, making repairs as required in conjunction with appropriate trades where applicable.
- Work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Collaborate with other trades and departments to ensure seamless operation of hospital facilities.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of hospital facilities, including mechanical systems, electrical systems, and plumbing systems.
Requirements
- Five years' experience, post certification, in a variety of facets of maintenance of buildings, building services, building service equipment, and departmental equipment.
- Previous experience in a healthcare facility would be an asset.
- Experience in the installation of mechanical equipment, such as heating and ventilating equipment, fans, pumps (vacuum, compressors), and the ability to read blueprints and interpret manuals.
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
- Certificate of qualification as a Journeyman Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Manitoba/Interprovincial required.
- Journeyman Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Manitoba/Interprovincial certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the repair or reproduction and re-installation of equipment parts.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Working Conditions
- Job requires heavy lifting, bending, and working in elevated places on various pieces of equipment (i.e. scaffolds, ladders), as well as the ability to work in confined spaces and enclosures.
