Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operations Lead to join our team at PHSA. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the effective and efficient functioning of the Indigenous Health Program, ensuring the provision of high-quality, culturally safe services to Indigenous communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Lead an interdisciplinary team of Indigenous staff, setting goals and objectives, and managing performance outcomes.
    • Use effective management techniques, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management, to support the achievement of required outcomes.
  • Operational Planning and Management
    • Develop and implement operational plans, ensuring the efficient use of resources and adherence to accreditation, regulatory, and safety standards.
    • Monitor and manage the operational budget, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Medical Leaders, Professional Discipline Leaders, and BC Women's Program and Nursing Leaders, to ensure effective communication and coordination.
    • Liaise with external stakeholders, including Indigenous communities and organizations, to build relationships and ensure the provision of culturally safe services.
  • Professional Development and Knowledge
    • Develop and maintain knowledge of Indigenous-specific anti-racism initiatives, including the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
    • Stay up-to-date with legislative obligations and provincial commitments, including the Declaration Act and the Declaration Action Plan.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Sciences, or a relevant clinical discipline, plus a minimum of five (5) years of recent, related experience working with Indigenous communities in a hospital or public health care environment.
  • Skills and Knowledge
    • Established knowledge and network of Indigenous communities, services, and agencies throughout BC.
    • Ability to direct and respond to inquiries related to Indigenous Health department alignment to Paige's Story and the Truth and Reconciliation Call To Action report.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of Indigenous-centred care.
    • Knowledge of the needs of women and families with health conditions and the ability to advocate for patients as they navigate the healthcare system.
