Overview

Propak Systems Ltd., a prominent player in the engineering, fabrication, and construction sector for gas compression and processing facilities within the energy industry, is currently seeking an Automation Specialist to enhance our Electrical Engineering Department.

The Automation Specialist is tasked with executing advanced, intricate, and confidential assignments that necessitate a robust grasp of fundamental engineering concepts. Control System Specialists are expected to possess a foundational understanding of the industrial processes relevant to their projects and effectively communicate this knowledge to fellow automation team members. They are accountable for fulfilling their designated responsibilities while upholding safety and quality standards in alignment with project timelines. Maintaining open communication with team leads and project managers, updating progress tracking tools, and generating documentation for scope changes are essential duties. Collaboration with other technical leaders to establish programming practices and graphic standards for the department is encouraged. Identifying training opportunities to foster personal development is also a key aspect of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, RTUs, and DCS/SCADA systems for the oil and gas sector Assist in the development and maintenance of automation programming standards and templates Commission control systems both domestically and internationally Test, calibrate, and troubleshoot electrical equipment and instrumentation Review and modify electrical schematics, P&IDs, Cause and Effect, and Critical Settings documentation Ensure that each project adheres to contract specifications and design requirements Conduct Factory Approval Tests (FAT/SAT/HAT/CAT) on control systems and oil and gas equipment Analyze complex issues independently by collaborating with leaders, employees, and clients, and work with engineers to create, review, and modify control philosophies and narratives for oil and gas equipment Assist in system architecture design and provide ongoing technical support to clients Travel, both domestically and internationally, to support the commissioning and start-up of oil and gas equipment.

Qualifications:

A graduate of a recognized diploma program in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechanical Engineering Technology ASET membership is considered an asset A minimum of 2 years' experience in control systems within the oil and gas or petrochemical industries Required experience includes: Programming and configuring PLC/DCS/HMI control systems, Programming Allen Bradley Factory Talk ME/SE and RS Logix 5000/500, Reviewing and modifying P&IDs, Cause and Effect, and Critical Settings documentation, and On-site commissioning and start-ups Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally; a valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to obtain or currently hold a valid passport. Previous experience in refinery or gas plant operations and fabrication environments is advantageous Experience with an EPCM company is beneficial; familiarity with DeltaV is a plus Knowledge in the design, installation, and operation of gas processing equipment, including natural gas compression, refrigeration, turbo-expanders, or amine treating plants is a valuable asset
