Heavy Equipment Operators – Road Construction

Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Foreman/Superintendent, Heavy Equipment Operators are tasked with the safe and effective management of various construction machinery. Volker Stevin Contracting is actively looking for Grader Operators, Paver Operators, Roller Operators, Scraper Operators, Screed Operators, and Tandem Operators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating a variety of construction machinery utilized in road development projects.
- Ensure all equipment is operated safely and with full awareness of the surrounding environment, particularly on public roadways.
- Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of machinery; perform routine cleaning to guarantee optimal functionality.
- Utilize different types of equipment for grading, paving, and asphalting tasks.
- Execute additional construction-related responsibilities as necessary.
Work Environment:
- Work is conducted outdoors, potentially in adverse weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and other elements.
- Physical capability to repetitively lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds regularly is required.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.
- 3 to 7 years of experience in the road construction sector is essential.
- 2 to 3 years of experience operating a diverse array of construction machinery is mandatory.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Operator's License; a clean Driver Abstract is required as per company policy.
- Familiarity with computerized controls and electronic systems is advantageous.
- Understanding of road construction processes, including grading, paving, and asphalt application.
- Knowledge of materials and methodologies used in road construction is beneficial.
