Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to join our growing Supplier Quality team. This role will report to the Director of Supplier Quality and will be responsible for ensuring the quality of supplier parts and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of quality parts and assemblies that meet CoolIT engineering specifications and manufacturing requirements.
  • Work proactively with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to define requirements and ensure supplier material, manufacturing, and quality systems are capable of meeting requirements and preventing supplier quality issues.
  • Perform on-site supplier audits to validate compliance with quality standards.
  • Establish and maintain data-based relationships with suppliers to provide visibility and support where needed.
  • Review and approve Supplier PPAP submissions and updates.
  • Actively participate in PFMEA and Control Plan development with suppliers to ensure they capture and mitigate potential risks.
  • Manage supplier quality issues using 8D methodology to define the problem, assure effective containment, find root cause, verify and validate corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
  • Act as single point of contact between suppliers and CoolIT to ensure effective, efficient communication.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer or Quality Engineer.
  • Demonstrated experience with AIAG Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
Preferred Qualifications
  • BASc. / BEng. degree or higher in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Combined 5 years experience as a Quality Engineer/Supplier Quality Engineer at a Tier 1 automotive supplier or an automotive OEM.
  • Lean Six Sigma and/or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) training.
Skills
  • APQP, PPAP, AIAG methods: Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), PFMEA, Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis (GR&R), Statistical Capability and Capacity Analysis.
  • Structured problem-solving, one or more of: 8D, PDCA, DMAIC, 5P.
  • Design Controls: Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Stack-up Tolerance Analysis (STA).
  • Statistical Process Capability & Control (SPC), Statistical Engineering Methods including Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Supplier Auditing, Scorecards, Quality Improvement Plans, Continuous Improvement.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration capabilities, Strong Project Management skills.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and responsiveness to ensure commitments are met.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
