Bureau Veritas Canada is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Wet Assay Laboratory Technician to join our team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine and non-routine analyses of samples using established analytical techniques. This includes accurately conducting analyses, providing technical support to senior technicians, and meeting quality and TAT specifications required by clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately conduct routine and non-routine analyses of samples using the appropriate method or instrument and in accordance with the established schedule
  • Provide technical support to senior technicians for any duties and tasks assigned
  • Meet quality and TAT specifications required by clients and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements
  • Accurately follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and instructions
  • Prepare chemical reagents and calibration standards for use in the laboratory
  • Handle all chemicals in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Perform daily, weekly, or monthly chemical inventory count and other cleanup duties as required
  • Operate and perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of all instruments such as Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), auto-titrator, pH and conductivity meter, UV-vis Spectrometer, Pycnometer
  • Assist in setting up and conducting chemical experiments, tests, and analyses
  • Compile records for analytical studies and maintain a high quality of results for clients
Requirements:
  • BSc. in Chemistry, Technical Diploma, or equivalent experience
  • High level of work production in a fast-paced lab environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with a high level of work production. The role may involve repetition of the same process, requires patience, tenacity, and persistence. Flexible working hours, overtime, and shift work may be required. The role may also involve long periods of standing, some lifting and carrying (up to 10kg), and handling hazardous materials using established safety procedures and appropriate equipment.
