Job Summary

Camosun College is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian I to join our facilities team. As a Custodian I, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our campus facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Perform a wide range of cleaning and custodial duties, including dusting, mopping, washing, vacuuming, sweeping, and cleaning surfaces.
  • Waste Management: Empty waste and recycling containers, and remove and dispose of waste and recycling from and adjacent to buildings.
  • Facilities Support: Assist with setting up for special functions, cleaning light fixtures, and replacing bulbs.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to College employees, public, and students, and respond to general questions and requests.
  • Reporting and Safety: Report any deficiencies, signs of failure, or unsafe conditions in or near buildings to a supervisor.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Grade 6 and six months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to deal effectively with College staff and the public, and some knowledge of machines and equipment associated with custodial service.
