Position: Research Manager, Temerty Centre
Department: Acute Care Program
Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager and the Director of the Temerty Centre, the Research Manager will oversee the daily operations of the Centre's research activities. This role is pivotal in planning, coordinating, and delivering quality assurance and monitoring efforts in collaboration with research services. The Research Manager will also monitor and supervise collaborating subsites involved in multi-centre trials.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit and train new research personnel, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
- Provide essential support for the successful initiation and execution of all research studies, including treatment trials.
- Prepare study teams for site and study initiation visits, review ethics and regulatory submissions, and ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines prior to launch.
- Lead the development and management of the Temerty Centre's REDCap project library and the centralized intake access database.
- Design, implement, and oversee the Centre's standardized clinical and cognitive assessment training program.
- Ensure research staff are cross-trained to provide coverage across various clinical trials.
- Act as the primary liaison for the Research Ethics Board, addressing issues as necessary.
- Train new staff on protocol development and submission processes.
- Collaborate with Research Services and the Mood and Anxiety CLEEAR referral team to advance the Brain Stimulation Centre's research agenda.
- Work cooperatively with other departments to uphold institutional and regulatory standards, including Biosafety and legal compliance.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree required; clinical field education and experience preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive and relevant experience in healthcare research, particularly in a clinical research environment.
- Proven ability to implement research protocols with necessary controls.
- Experience in grant development and budget management.
- Extensive experience with clinical and cognitive assessments.
- Familiarity with regulatory bodies such as Health Canada and the FDA.
- Clinical Research Professional Certification (CCRP) is an asset.
- Demonstrated adaptability and ability to manage shifting priorities.
- Experience in leading change management initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Proficient problem-solving abilities with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work effectively under pressure.
